Prince Theodore of Macedonia and Nicaea

Safeguarding the legacy of the Eastern Roman Empire

His Imperial Highness Prince Theodore is a direct descendant of the ruling Byzantine dynasties of Macedonia and Nicaea (Laskaris). In full accordance with international nobility law and the verifiable transmission of dynastic rights, he has been pronounced head of both Imperial Houses. In the Orthodox tradition, he understands this inheritance as a vocation: to guard, renew, and transmit the religious, philosophical, and cultural patrimony of the Roman Empire (Rhōmaioi; often termed “Byzantine”). Accordingly, the Prince has a deep interest in the virtues, letters, and arts shaped by Constantinople. He invites scholars, clergy, and all persons of goodwill to consider petitioning for membership in the Imperial Order of Saint Thomas.
