The Order of Saint Thomas the Apostle

The Order of Saint Thomas the Apostle is the Royal House of Macedonia and Nicaea's main order. It is awarded for meritorious acts in science, arts, letters, political and religious life.

The Order of Saint Thomas the Apostle has two classes and five ranks. The two classes are Grace (for non-noble knights) and Justice (for knights drawn from the nobility). From highest to lowest, the five ranks of the Order are:

  1. Knight or Dame Grand Collar (reserved for heads of state or their religious equivalents)

  2. Knight or Dame Grand Cross (very rarely awarded, usually to foreign royalty and religious leaders)

  3. Knight or Dame Commander (awarded to those knights who have worked tirelessly towards the Order's charitable goals and hold a leadership position within it. From this rank upwards, knights must hold membership in the class of Justice)

  4. Knight or Dame Officer (awarded to senior knights who have taken on administrative and organisational responsibilities within the Order)

  5. Knight or Dame (awarded to men and women of good standing and noble character as a reward for meritorious activities)

To petition for entry into the Order of Saint Thomas the Apostle, please contact the Chancellor or Grand Master through the contact page on this website. Please be aware that admission into the Order is solely at the discretion of the Grand Master, and all investitures are into the first class of Knight or Dame in all but the rarest of circumstances.
